How our Stryker fire protection systems work
A sensor tube is wound around the engine compartment of your vehicle. When a fire starts the sensor tube bursts causing a release of pressure.
A pressure valve is triggered by the loss of pressure in the sensor tube, activating the fire suppression system. Fire suppressant floods the engine compartment as the cylinder discharges through the nozzles that are placed around the engine and electrical systems.
A control panel is also installed to track the components of the system and to alert the driver of any concerns (e.g. Low battery voltage, loss of pressure in the suppressant cylinder). A manual override is available, should the vehicle driver need activate the fire suppressant manually.
